Rotec Mk2 TBI-34-2 Throttle Body Injector

The Rotec Mk2 TBI-34-2 is a compact, fully metered mechanical throttle body fuel injection system designed specifically for smaller displacement aircraft engines, including Corvair conversions, Volkswagen based aero engines and a wide range of experimental and light aircraft applications.

With its 34 mm throttle bore, the TBI-34-2 is ideally matched to engines where excellent low speed response, smooth fuel metering and strong throttle control are more important than the airflow requirements of larger displacement engines.

It is an excellent choice for Corvair, VW and similar small aero engine installations.

Unlike a conventional carburettor, the Rotec TBI has no float bowl and no restrictive carburettor venturi. Fuel is mechanically metered in direct relationship to engine airflow and throttle position, providing smooth and consistent fuel delivery throughout the operating range.

The pilot also retains full mixture control, allowing the engine to be leaned in cruise for improved fuel economy and, where the engine installation and instrumentation permit, operated lean of peak.

The Mk2 TBI combines the simplicity of a carburettor with many of the operational advantages of fuel injection, while remaining entirely mechanical and straightforward to install and maintain.

Importantly, the Rotec TBI should not be confused with earlier Posa style throttle body devices. The Rotec TBI is a fully metered fuel system, with fuel delivery controlled according to engine demand.

For Corvair, VW and other smaller aircraft engines, the Rotec Mk2 TBI-34-2 provides an excellent balance of simplicity, precise fuel metering, light weight and reliable operation.
