3300 Cylinder Head Copper Fire Rings
These copper fire rings are designed to improve the seal between the Jabiru cylinder head and cylinder barrel. At 1.2 mm thick, they help promote better sealing and improved heat transfer across the head to barrel interface.
They are ideal for correcting minor distortion or sealing issues in leaking head to barrel joints.
At Rotec, we commonly machine 0.5 mm to 1.0 mm from the cylinder head deck surface, then use these fire rings to restore the correct installed height while also slightly reducing the compression ratio. This can help reduce the risk of detonation and improve long term sealing reliability.
From our experience, more horsepower is lost through poor head sealing and detonation than by reducing compression height by up to 1 mm. In practical terms, these fire rings can help deliver a more reliable seal, better thermal transfer, and a more durable engine combination.
